The all-new, rebooted Saints Row has just been revealed, and we already know what a lot of fans are going to be asking: can you still make your own custom character? The announcement trailer doesn't reference character customisation at all, opting to show a default female 'Boss' with a rather regular clothing style and short hair.

"The announcement trailer doesn't reference character customisation at all, opting to show a default female 'Boss' with a rather regular clothing style and short hair."To be fair, the announcement trailer didn't reference much at all really, besides the basic idea of 'here's the protagonist-gang stealing stuff from other gangs in typical 'protagonist-gang' fashion" so I'm not sure if there's any reason to doubt whether to not a particular feature is being cut or not. (though then again who knows *shrugs *, maybe I missed something; after all, everyone else seemed to see enough in the trailer to decide to hate on the game already, so maybe I'm just not seeing anything).
As a heterosexual male gamer since 1984 on the Atari 2600, I've enjoyed the increasingly sophisticated ability to create my own custom made character in RPGs and open world games. Since I like to spend 50+ hours on a game I like (even after I've beaten it), I want to create a character I like looking at for that length of time. Specifically, I want to create pretty female characters with armors and outfits made for the female gender in mind, not just slight modifications of male designated armor and outfits.
I don't mean to sound like a misogynist or anything (I am quite the opposite I think). But I have grown increasingly fond of strong sexy female characters in American popular culture, like Milla Jovovich in the Resident evil series, the black samurai chick on Walking dead, or Kate Beckinsale in everything. I wanna be a pretty girl AND kick ass (in video games) ! I respect women but I also REALLY like looking at them too (like any straight guy would, right ?) !
Does that make me gay or effeminate ? What about the way we've made female gamers play as male characters for most of video gaming history ? I think we are well past the point in American society that your gaming avatar should say anyhting about you at all. Sometimes you wanna be Blanka, sometimes you wanna be Chun Li.
